Where:

Called together by the Holy Spirit, Providence Presbyterian Church is a welcoming and inclusive community of faith committed to Jesus Christ and the Word of God as proclaimed in the Bible. Through worship, education and fellowship, we strive to use our myriad gifts and resources to share God’s message of love, while enriching the spiritual growth of each individual and serving the needs of our diverse community and the world.

WHEN YOU ARRIVE

Our service starts at 10:00 AM, but many people arrive a few minutes late. Most who attend dress in business casual attire. Jeans are common. Some are more casual than others. After worship, we have what we call “coffee hour.” We have snacks, coffee, tea, etc. This is a great time to meet some new friends.

Enter the front door, which faces Hope St. In our foyer There, you will meet our greeter who can answer your questions. You’ll receive a bulletin, which will tell you what to expect at each part of the worship service.

CHILDREN

We try our best to help children feel welcome. Early in the service, the children are invited to come up front for our “children’s time”. Children should not feel obligated to participate. After the children’s time, they are invited to attend Sunday School. We have great teachers who love what they do. They are all background checked and we follow a Child Protection Policy for the safety of the children. If you, as a parent, would like to attend Sunday School with your child, you are welcome to do so.

If your child prefers to stay in the service, they are welcome to do so. They are even welcome to make some noise. We don’t mind! But if you would like to take your child into another room, we have a parent-child room upstairs. There is a window in the parent-child room that looks out to the sanctuary and speakers, so you will be able to hear the service.

DURING SERVICE

There is lots of singing in our worship service. Whenever we can, we sing our prayers. We have hymnals, so you can follow the music. We also post the music on a screen. We invite people who attend to share their prayer requests and joys with the congregation. After we read from the Bible, which we also posted on the screen, the pastor normally delivers a sermon that is about ten minutes. At the end of the service, the pastor gives a final blessing, and the children play on drums and maracas for one last joyful song that leads us out into coffee hour.

COMMUNION

We serve communion on the first Sunday of every month and every Sunday during Lent. If you are drawn to participate in communion, you are welcome. Children are welcome to take communion at their parents’ discretion.
